Information - Varifocals

Nowadays progressive lenses as well as near-range lenses are most often incorporated into multi-lens lenses. Bifocal glasses or trifocal glasses are no longer up to date, which is why we will not support these outdated glass types.

  • Varifocal lenses:

Varifocal glasses are mostly only worn at the age of 40-45 and onwards. In addition to myopia and farsightedness, varifocal lenses also correct reading impairment, which is usually experience at these ages. They enable sharp vision in the distance, intermediate area and close range at the same time. The different areas of vision merge smoothly, means the transition from top to bottom - from distance to near vision - is stepless and smooth. The transition zone between distance and near can be significantly improved through different quality levels.

Note: The general rule is: The use of varifocals that are manufactured without determining individual data (distance between the pupils, corneal vertex distance, frame inclination as well as the individual grinding height) can individually pose a danger in traffic. This is also the case with our varifocals. Only a visit to an optician of your choice or a visit to one of our stores can make up for this deficit. Your individual grinding data are determined here. Our master opticians therefore ask for caution and suggest to regard to our support in case of questions.

  • close-range lenses :

Close-range lenses are mainly used for workstation/office glasses and close-up comfort glasses. Similar to progressive lenses, short-range lenses also have different fields of vision that merge into one another without a separating edge. However, the far range is dropped here in favor of the near and intermediate range, which are correspondingly larger. These glasses are perfect for the workplace, for desk work or as hobby glasses, as they optimize the view for screen and room distances.

Attention: These glasses are not allowed to be used while driving due to the focus on the close range.
